Slothpollo 11 — Mission Control for the Deliberately Slow

Mission Control is dim and orderly. The sloths are at their stations. The CRTs are warm. On the largest monitor, a single astronaut sloth is standing on a moon-grey expanse, not in any particular hurry to plant a flag. A banner across the top reads SLOTHPOLLO 11; one across the bottom reads THE CHRONICLES OF DELIBERATE EXPLORATION. Snacks have been distributed. The eagle in the background is keeping its own counsel. Burgundy, cream, navy, mustard — the palette of a 1969 wall poster left in a sunny window for a long time.

For the person who suspects that getting somewhere first was never the point, and that the slowest expedition in the history of the species might also be the most thorough. A small monument to going far without rushing, made in a year that happens to be paying attention to anniversaries.
